Filiatra is a city of Messinia. The city name comes from the many wells that existed in the region several years ago (Filiatro means the rim of the well). It is local, rural and commercial center. It is located in a fertile area of cultivated olive trees, vegetables, grapes, figs and citrus. The inhabitants are mainly occupied with agriculture, while the summer brings many visitors.
